Jeremiah was uniquely forbidden by God to engage in some normal activities of life. These restrictions were: marrying and raising a family, attending a funeral or expressing sorrow, and attending a celebration (Jer. 16:1-9). These restrictions were not intended as punishments for Jeremiah, but rather as object lessons for the people.
